Until you let your ex go, which is exactly what he is wanting, you will never find any peace in your life. You understand the marriage vows completely, you did your part Paula, you kept your vows, but you are divorced. That doesn't make Tim's dating right as you never cheated on him, he will have to account for his sins & choices. Your standing in the way of his complete falling into the arms of God though is not healthy for you, for your children & for Tim. Tim is not right with God from all you have shared. Until you let go completely there is little chance that will change. What you do not see is it is vital to release Tim.
Divorce is a horrible thing, especially when one is the spouse that does not desire it. However there are those that are not mature enough to be married, their nature is irresponsible & self centered. Once you let go, cut ties with Tim, as is what he wants, you will find peace.
That doesn't mean it will be easy but guess what Paula, life isn't easy.
People who's marriages work, those that fail, our life' circumstances will be filled with challenges ongoing as Christian warriors.
One has to choose the battles to fight. Decide wisely, always follow God's Will. Even if you remain loyal to Tim in spirit does not mean clinging to him in flesh. You can live your part of the vows, as you desire, God Sees All & you will be rewarded for your strength & courage.
But Tim's soul belongs to God & it needs much work. You standing in the way right now is not helping anyone, in fact it is hindering (imo) Tim's progress & you are choosing to alienate those children from what could be a good mom.
Taking that step to cut off this cancer that Tim has inflicted, is the healing I believe you need. You are sinking with the ship. No you didn't cause the wreck but if a few can be saved & prosper in this mess then why not that be your choice?
Ongoing we are given choices, we are rewarded for these, by His Grace, in Heaven we reep what we sew. Your now ex desires that you loose him, let him fall, it's exactly what he is asking for & what he needs.
We belong to GOD. Yes, your ex is a jerk, he is uncaring, a playboy, he did you wrong, no doubt about it, from all you have shared. He is not a good spouse or father in this life as this is not his focus or concern.
Paula, let go of this shipwreck. Jesus Is your Lifesaver, your All, we are one in HIM, believe that power & you will heal. The only perfect is Heaven my dear. The ship is sinking, Heaven Is Above, look to those that choose to live by His Word. Be a leader by letting your dysfunctional ex husband go. He didn't & doesn't want you. God would never do you like that, ever.
Take the leap of faith & heal.
