I have been married to my Wonderful wife for 22 years. We were married at 18 yrs old and had our 4 children by the age of 22. Our kids are now 18,19,20, & 21 and we have a 2 1/2 yr old grandson. My wife and I are both age 40. We have had our shares of tests and trials, tough times, and financial struggles. Which have gotten extremely worse over the past 5 years. Our marriage has suffered becuase of it. I have fallen away from God during the past 5 years and started carrying the burdens on my own shoulders. Due to this, I began to shut down. I allowed myself to close up emotionally, supportively, physically, mentally. I wasn't there 100% for my wife and kids. I was so overwhelmed that I failed them as a Husband and Father. We moved to a new city about 30 miles from our home town, just as the kids were entering high school, because our current area was starting to get bad with drugs and violence. We thought it would be good for the kids. UNfortunately that back fired and it only got worse. Here are some examples of things that happened in the past 5 years. My best friend of 20 years died. Whom was also the owner of the company I was running. His wife then closed the business the day after Christmas without notice and I was without a job that fast. My Oldest son (at the time 18, now 21) got his girlfriend pregnant. My 2nd oldest son (now age 20, started at age 14) started doing drugs and then became a heroin addict and almost died twice (we since sent him to teen challenge in Arizona and he is doing great). My youngest son (now age 19, started age 15)began to get in trouble with the law about 5 years ago and it only got worse over time, he was in and out of jail and court for like 4 years straight. After losing my job, I started my own business in the same field and took out a 2nd mortgage to get it off the ground. After a short 1 1/2 I was forced to close the doors due to the failing economy. I probably should have closed it sooner, but I just kept thinking and praying that things would turn around. In the mean time, we went throught the 2nd mortgage, savings, and 401k to try to survive. So when we closed down, we had nothing left. Then our only vehicle broke down (transmission) and it would cost $2500-$3000 to fix. We couldnt do it. I borrowed a vehilce from a good friend for almost 2 years. Then I went on a golf outing with some family. Went to eat after at a pub. I am not a big drinker, but decided to have a few with my family. I had about 4-5 drinks. Then stopped. We were going to stay for another 3-4 hours to catch up, but my brother decided to keep drinking and started a fight with someone there. I decided to get him out of there before it got worse. Well driving down the road, he punched me in the face, giving me 2 fractures in my face, a shifted sinus, cut cornea, and I crashed into a ditch. He them left me there alone. Police showed up I was out of it, and they had me blow, and I was over the limited by 3 tenths and got a DUI. Took me 3 years to get my license back. Plus caused $2500 in damage to a vehicle thta wasn't mine. Then I couldn't find work. I put out over 450 resumes and nothing. I was getting so discouraged. I was at the worst point in my life and everyone in my life was suffering because of me. I failed them. Them our home went into foreclosure. Them all my kids moved out and now (within the past 2 weeks) my wife said she is leaving me. I have never been the greatest at handling stress and worry and reacting in a good way during. I was short tempered with my family. I was shut down. I was giving up. I was overwhelmed, I felt like a failure. and I wasn't giving it to God. I caused my wife to not want to be with me. I love her so much. I don't want this. We are now coming out of this horrible time in our life and all I want is to be able to show my wife how much I love her. I don't want to live without her. I can go on forever with this, but my prayer request is this. Please prayer for God to continue to work in me, to change me to be more in his image, to honor Him in all I do. To give me strength throughout this time. Pray for my marriage, for my wife, to be able to forgive me, so that she may love me again. To heal our marriage. To help me to be the husband He planned for me to be. I love my wife more than I can express in words and yet I allowed myself to fall so low, that I didn't realize I was treating her so badly in the process. Lord...I am Sorry!! Please forgive me!!! Please let me keep my wife!
