I agree with you talking too much with someone who is not born again Christian and different gender is not helping to focus on The Lord and Lord's Kingdom. Also according with 2 Corinthians 6:14 better avoid to engage with non born again Christian in having a relationship. There are persons which never follow Jesus as His children and therefore to hope a non believer to come to Jesus can be just a trap. Honoring The Word will bring what is best in their lives.

Lord's children are called kings first in Revelation 1:6 KJV. Is important to use authority and office of the king in spiritual realm. Also according with Exodus 20:5 is important to be free from any legal right from any unclean spirit.

Also came in my mind this can be only a test. To pass the test is to say no to the unbleliever and go forward. The right spouse from The Lord can come only after passing the test and renouncing to a relationship which in reality according with 2 Corinthians 6:14 is agaisnt to what Bible says.
