RE: Restoration of Marriage
ShoeCoats (I'm sorry, are you a mum of young children?!? :P), I am so sorry for your situation. I feel for you very much.
Lord, thank you that you see all. Thank you that you know this woman's heart and you know her husband's heart. Father, all this wife wants is reconciliation, she wants to forgive and love again, be loved again. I pray that you will forgive this lady's husband and please convict him very strongly about what he is doing. Cause him to understand the holy sanctity of his marriage, a unity that you created with a purpose. Also please fill his heart with an overwhelming love, appreciation and desire for his wife so that he will not every desire to stray again.
Father, you can always bring something good out of something evil. So now we look on the bright side and, kneeling before you, ask that you will help this husband and wife to reconcile, for her to forgive, for him to repent. And through this reconciliation, we ask that they will not hide what has happened, but that they will speak out to those that now question their faith, to explain that as humans we all fail (I'm sure some of the disgusted and disappointed parishioners have done things they would never want to reveal for a billion dollars). Father, I pray that any person questioning their faith will realise that it is not really you they are questioning, because you wouldn't do this or sanction this. No, it is humanity they are questioning, and they need to realise that just because we are forgiven and saved through the blood of the lamb, that doesn't make us perfect or infallible, and we are always needing to come back to you for forgiveness.
Please help this couple to show to the Church that even while we fail, you are everlastingly loving and you do not fail in forgiving and creating a new path. Also that you make it possible to forgive others when we think it's the end of the road and things are as bad as they're going to get. Father I pray that through this, instead of bitterness, questioning believers and unforgiveness, there will instead be a stronger sense of community and unity formed both between the married couple and amongst the church-goers.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
