Our daughter has Down Syndrome. She also was not supposed to survive birth. So we do praise God that she has lived, and is healthy. Our prayer, and we would appreciate prayer in regard to this, as well, is that the Lord strengthens her neurotransmitters and all the pathways in her brain so that she is on the high-functioning side of D.S. We had prayed that she would not have D.S., but the Lord did not decide to change this. She has very strong legs, and a strong mid-section. She is also attempting to speak. Please join us in prayer over the strength in her arms (which were very limp--and she used exceptionally little--when she was younger). We do a lot of physical therapy with her, too. She is 6 months old today. We also want to pray about her eyes. She does have nystagmus, which is an involuntary movement of the eyes. We are praying for strength in her eyes, (this is also evidently something that can be corrected) and have an appointment with the Opthamologist regarding this. Your prayers are coveted. Dear Lord, please bring your loving touch to Rachel and her family. Bring about a strengthening in her body and help her to live life in the fullest and be a person that is high-functioning regardless of her down syndrome. Lord, have your perfect will and let this situation and this baby's life and her advancements to bring you great glory. In Jesus' name - Amen!
