My son has been seeking primary custody for his son (my first grandson), since 2005. After many hearings in which there has remained shared custody, my grandson now needs to start kindergarten. Because mom and dad live 2 hours apart, only one parent can have PERMANENT primary custody. This will be the parent whom he will live with for the majority of the time and this is where he will attend school. I know there are (too) many of you who have gone through this heart wrenching process. So I will keep this short... You can also appreciate how almost impossible that is! I am so grateful for my Lord and that He is where I put my faith. We were very naive 5 years ago. It seemed a given which parent the judge would grant custody to, considering the two parents. I promise I say this without being prejudice: My Grandson's mother will always have a special place in our hearts, she is his mother and he loves her and his daddy both. It is always, or should be, about the baby! He should be with the parent who will provide him with love, security, support in everything, dicipline and raise him to know our Lord in his heart and instill in him the desire to do God's will. And lots more... My son is strong in character, always has been. Even as a teen ager many of his peers looked up to him. He is a firefighter and at the young age of 33 became a Captain. My Grandson says he and his daddy are "firemans"! His mom has a personality disorder which was diagnosed by a COURT ORDERED psychologist. During her fight for custody she has never gotten a job, lives with her parents where she and my grandson share a room, has failed to attend AA for her alchoholism and was kicked out of rehab for being uncooperative and using drugs while in the program. She is a fighter when drunk, verbally abusive and wants to physically fight as well. There are 100 pages of these findings from the psychologist. In the end, the pschologist stated that any stability my grandson would ever have would come only from his father. ..... Despite this, time and again this same judge ruled to keep custody as equally shared until he goes to kindergarten. He has yet to have any one place to call home. Because this judge has yet to make a decision we have come to feel very desperate and our confidence in this judge went out the window! Hence, the comment I made at the beginning of this request: I am so grateful for our Lord! All our confidence and trust are in Him! In closing... finally, Please pray for my son and my Grandson. Pray that this judge has his heart and mind open so that through him our Lord's Will may be done. Lord touch this judge's heart as he makes this decision, give him wisdom as you did to king Solomon in ancient times. Bring salvation to this mother and break all her addiction as she comes to know you as her Lord and Savior. Perform a miracle in her for the welfare of her little boy. Lord you who see everything and know our hearts have your perfect will be done in this case. Bring peace among all of them so this child be raised in a understanding family full of your love, forgiveness, and kindness, I pray in Jesus name.
