Today we honor those who have died in wars.
Father, you are Holy. As we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we give You praise and glory. We pray for men and women who have served our nation and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom. Let us remember those who served in our nation's Armed Forces. Let us remember always and give thanks for those who have given their lives in the service of our country. God, you yourself have taught us that no love is greater than that which gives itself for another. These honored dead gave the most precious gift they had, life itself, for loved ones and neighbors, for comrades and country – and for us. And we are grateful to you Father and to all our veterans. Help us to honor their memory by caring for the family members they have left behind, by ensuring that their wounded comrades are properly cared for, by being watchful caretakers of the freedoms for which they gave their lives, and by demanding that no other young men and women follow them to a soldier’s grave unless the reason is worthy and the cause is just. Help us to remember that freedom is not free. There are times when its cost is, indeed, dear. Never let us forget those who paid so terrible a price to ensure that freedom would be our legacy. Though their names may fade with the passing of generations, may we never forget what they have done. Help us to be worthy of their sacrifice, and to be remembered as a blessing from generation to generation.
I love you and blessed You Father, You are our protector and redeemer, our shield and our stronghold. Father, in Jesus' name I give YOU all the glory and praise for what you have done for my son and for bringing him home safely from Iraq. Please continue to heal his mind, spirit and soul of all the sad things he had to witnessed while he was there. Heal his sad memories of his friends and his men who were under him who lost their lives and I ask that You bless their families they left behind. Thank you Father for blessing my son continually and He told me many times that He is grateful to You and for my prayers for him. You have reasons that you brought him back home with us Father, and I ask that YOU fulfill his calling for his life through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen and Amen.
