I have been dating on/off again a man for the past 2 years. He has many emotional issues dealing with a dysfunctional family and the loss of his father 3 years ago. He has treated me cruelly at times. We will reconcile, he will tell me he loves me, wants to be with me, and then will disappear for extended periods. He is raising 2 sons alone, again, has difficult family issues that leave him in a constant cycle of guilt/resentment, but each time we reconcile, he opens up a bit more about how he feels. Mostly, he is emotionally closed off. But he seems to trust me more and more. And my heart goes out to him.

But when we are together, things are wonderful. He is kind, attentive, loving, affectionate.......he is the man I want to be with. He claims his fear of intimacy coupled with his family issues makes him run from me. I'm not naive.....this could be an untruth, but in my heart, I don't think so. I love him and desperately want him to be relieved of his issues. I ask for prayer that this relationship will be restored and he will love me as the man I know he can be.

I am going through a very very similiar issue and I know how it feels to love someone so much you feel it consumes you. When I was with my ex husband and father of two children he was not good to me and I prayed and prayed that he would change and God would change his heart but I knew deep in my heart he just was not right from the beginning, and I will love him always. Then I met this man now, he is my best friend, he makes me laugh, he lets me be myself and teaches me how to be better, BUT he is selfish and does not give me all I deserve. He is going through a time where he needs to figure things out. In this case I hear God saying be patient.. wait, he is the one. I feel like God will bring him to me. I feel like you know when you know.

I pray that if this is Gods will for you that God will speak to this man and his heart and show him that he needs to show his love to you. I read somewhere that the closest you can be to a person is praying for them to God so I pray for the man I love and ask God to whisper to him that I love him hoping he hears it. I asked God to guide him to pick up the devotional book i bought him and I went over there after a while after not seeing him and he had a book mark in it. God listens and answers esp when we are crying out from the depths of our souls. Praying for you!
