All I can say is to research the scriptures on tithing. I have been a regular tither for years. I can't say that it has always led to financial blessings, but I do it because I feel that I am supposed to. Ask God for wisdom in your finances. Make sure when you do give money that you are planting it in good soil.

Father, I lift up John to you. I pray that you would provide seed to the sower. Give him wisdom in handling his finances. Show him what is meant for seed and what is meant for bread. I ask that you would just bless this family, and show them your abundance. In Jesus name.

Now more than ever, Christians do need to be wise in their finances. We are experiencing tough times. This may lead up to the time of the mark of the beast, where a person cannot buy or sell without receiving the mark. There could be food shortages. Learning to trust God for our finances now, will help when times get even touch. JMO. Best wishes.
