Apply for as many jobs as you have to. You owe them nothing as they owe you nothing. If they didn't put this in writing, the job does not exist. It doesn't hurt to revisit the subject with this superrvisor but if an opportunity comes, take it. Apply, it doesn't mean you have the job but its a just in case situation.
