re: Continuing prayer for new home
I put a post on here a while back regarding prayer for a better home for us. We live in a very large apartment complex. It's decent; I've certainly seen worse. But there is a hight crime rate, a lot of people here don't care about how their activity affects their neighbors; there's occult activity here too. In my original post, I asked for prayer agreeing that The Lord will help us into a house, whether it be a rental or a purchase. We have no money at all to move right now; the economy of course and we're helping one of our sons with his finances as he's out of a job and has a car payment to make. So I guess in practical terms it would be at least a year before we could move? But as I ponder this, do we really pray the right things in situations like this? My wife desperately wants to move, she's really depressed. But in the mean time, could I pray over the complex? Could I take on some spiritual warfare in regards to the noise, partying and occult activity? Could I - or should I really be praying for God's will only? I think this is something we all struggle with sometimes. I guess I can't see how The Lord would want us in a miserable place that causes grief and is unsafe, but... As a mortgage friend told me some weeks ago when i felt frustrated: "Some time in the future you'll look back and see how everything just fell into place while you sitting there wondering when God was going to act."
I'm sort of rambling but I guess I'd like to proclaim that God is going to do a miraculous act in our family. We have no money to move; can barely pay the rent; are covering our son's finances; have $100 in savings.. Yet God answers prayer. And if we ask for a fish, will he give us a stone? I guess I probably feel like Mary after she was told she would be the mother of Jesus. She didn't doubt, but she didn't really see how it could happen from her human perspective. I guess the best thing to do right now is serve Him, trust Him and be obedient to the extent that we can. And plead the blood and pray for grace too.
