On May 9, 08 Daryl had a motorcycle accident. Daryl was air lifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital where we were told that he would not survive. Daryl now has an amazing testimony as he is a miracle from God.
While returning home from a short motorcycle ride after dark, Daryl was surprised by a large box of tractor trailer hitches dropped from a tractor trailer. Daryl has a severe brain injury which led to him being placed on life support, he has had two surgeries for a right below knee amputation, he has lung damage, pneumonia, skull fracture, sinus fracture, several stitches in his head, ear, and finger and is covered with road rash. Daryl had to have another surgery for a trach placement and a feeding tube.
Daryl is improving everyday. Although, he is still unable to have physical therapy since he isn't responding to the physician's request to hold up two fingers, his thumb, etc. He is off of life support, he is moving his arms, legs, and hands. The pneumonia is being treated. He still has a trach and feeding tube, but is smiling and doing his best to talk. With the brain being his main injury he sometimes seems to make since and other times we only get mumbles.
This will take time, prayer, and help from everyone; but as we now see, the Lord has a job for Daryl to do, so we must help him get well in order to accomplish that job.
