Guidance for my son with a new girlfriend
My son is a 24 year old Christian man. He suffered the very painful loss of a break up with a girl he thought he wanted to marry four months ago. As time went on and he started to recover, he realized that there were many things about that past relationship that were hurting him. The gal was very hard for him to get her to communicate and she did not actively respond to affirmations. In other words he felt like he was doing all of the work in the relationship, but he didn't care because she was very beautiful and truly a nice person. Well, now he has met another girl. This girl is much more overtly communicative than the last one and she is very affirming of him. It it so complete opposite of the first girl that he is going head over heals now for this girl. Our whole family is pleading with him to be patient and slow down because as talented and wonderful as my son is, he is not very good at patience. We are all concerned that he is rushing into something and not allowing time to discern properly. He is coming home from college tonight and I am praying that true discernment would be visited upon all of us. That he could be blessed with a peace in his heart that will help him to be sensible and patient in this new relationship. I just want him to be able to enjoy himself but show maturity and that he has learned something from the pain of the past so that he can live his life with the least possible pain and backtracking. I want him to marry the right person. He is my only son and these are my prayers. Thank you for praying with me about this.
