dire straights marriage crisis

Hi,

I've been married for 28 years and have a 12 year old daughter. My husband says he knows but he isn't walking with the Lord. He's an alcoholic and denies it all he does in his spare time is sit in the garage and drink beer.

We have a lot of very bad history. He had an emotional affair with a woman who used to live across the street because she wasn't getting what she needed from her husband emotionally. He was hanging out with hard core alcoholics, people who visit prostitutes and drug users.

This was years ago but what hasn't changed is he's detached and only really cares about what's important to him. He still spends most of his spare time in the garage drinking beer. Some friends that aren't bad join him now and then. The bad people don't reappear because he knows I won't tolerate them. I already told him that I'd call the police, weld the garage door shut, if these types of people reappeared. He cares less now than he did then. I'm getting to where I'm giving up hope and if he want's to remain as he is then I just can't trust him.

I really want God to do something drastic or I want my husband to leave.

Please pray for Gods hand in this, I want what's best for my daughter but I hate living like this.

I will get my inheritance in the near future and as is I could not and wouldn't let him touch my money because of lack of trust.

RE: dire straights marriage crisis

Papa, thank You for Beth and her desire for a healthy family dynamic. Please prepare her for whatever lies ahead of her during this battle. Protect her and her daughter as You work Your will in her husband's heart and mind. Strengthen her to do what You have called her to do in this situation, and prepare her daughter's heart and mind as she is caught in this situation, so that she will lean on You all the days of her life.

In her husband, deliver him from alcoholism. Lead him into conviction, repentance, and forgiveness. Cause the garage to be a place of suffocation and not refuge. Make his home a place of love, compassion, and forgiveness, so that he will be drawn to be with his wife and daughter and lead them as You have created him to lead them. Holy Spirit, guard and protect this work. In Your mighty, healing name, Jesus. Amen.

"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18).
Dear Heavenly Father I ask that you fill this man with your spirit so that he does not need alcohol. Strengthen him in mind, body, and spirit so that he can be the father and husband he probably really wants to be. Let his love for his child be stronger so that he will change. I ask this humbly in Jesus name, Amen
