Happy Thanksgiving!
"Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..." (Ephesian 5:20)
At this time of the year, it is a tradition to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with our family and friends. Our time together is made complete when we partake of a well cooked meal. Love abounds as we gather together, thankful for the fellowship that we enjoy with each other. But, as believers, we need to be thankful for something even greater: the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Consider the close fellowship our Lord and Savior enjoyed in glory with Our Heavenly Father. But, because God so loved us, Jesus was willing to separate Himself from our Heavenly Father, clothe Himself in human flesh, die and serve out the sentence that we should have served. Why? Because God wanted His family back and was willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son to redeem us from eternal damnation and separation from Him.
Be thankful for being a part of the family of God and the peace that it brings. Consider where you and your loved ones would be if God was not mindful of us (Psalm 8:3-5). Be truly thankful for all that you have - because it was the love of Our Heavenly Father in the person of Jesus Christ that has made it all possible for you.
