About a year ago, I sent a prayer request to some of you asking for prayers for my brother, Rickey. We hadn't heard from him up until now and I am asking that you please include him in your prayers. I had been saying a Novena and he appeared on my father's doorstep the day after I completed the nine day Novena. He was in very poor condition and doesn't look very healthy. He is living in an old pathetic camper and is still struggling with his addiction. However, as beaten and broken as he was, he came to us. He says he is very lonely and has no one. He was recently in the hospital with pnemonia and was very ill. He has been chained to his addiction for so long.
God is so good and I know that my prayers are beginning to be answered. Rickey asked my sister, Lottie, if he could go to church with her this weekend!
Now more than ever, he needs your prayers. Please continue to pray for Rickey and please pass this on to as many people as you can and ask them to also pray.
For those of you who don't know or remember, Rickey has been addicted to drugs for over 30 years. I was 4 years old when he began using. He has been in jail, shot, homeless,etc.... My parents, my siblings, myself and several people throughout Rickey's life have tried to help him; but the drugs won!
Dear Father:
We ask you to please place your healing hands on Rickey and heal him of this addiction that he has been chained to for so long. We ask that you enter his heart and change him. We know that he needs a spiritual healing before a physical one can take place and we now ask you to come into his heart and transform him. We know that no life is in vain and that Rickey has a purpose. Please show him that purpose and give him the strength, courage and will to live out that purpose. Please help him to take the first step and to come to church this weekend. Once he is there, please fill his heart with your love and forgiveness. Help him to give his cross to you so that you can carry it for him while he is to weak to carry it for himself and then renew and strengthen him so that one day he will be able to take on the full weight of his cross and carry it himself. Most importantly, please heal him spiritually so that one day he may spend enternity in heaven with you where he will finally be able to lay down his cross a live a truly happy life.
In ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen
