What Is This Hurt For? - shellykeli - 01-24-2009 11:20 PM Hi, I posted a request a few weeks ago asking for prayer for clarity and insight for a breakup I went through. I had been feeling better and focusing on school and work. The past few days have been rough again. I cannot stop thinking about my ex-boyfriend and it frustrates me. I pray for strength and hope, but I feel sad. If we are not meant to be together, what is all this hurt for? It's been almost six months and I feel like it was yesterday. I can't lose myself to this anymore, but I don't know how to move on. I love him so much. My heart hurts. I pray to God for help, and I praise Him for getting me through each day, but it's so hard. What do I do? -Shelley RE: What Is This Hurt For? - Richard S. - 01-25-2009 08:38 PM Jn:16:33: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Thank you heavenly Father for bringing peace to this person's mind and thank you for comforting her. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

RE: What Is This Hurt For? - MichaelDS - 01-25-2009 09:57 PM Shelley, When we go through painful trials, it is a natural response to preoccupy ourselves with work, school, exercising, hobbies, drinking, drugs, etc. It's a natural defense mechanism to help us forget about our sorrow. Each time I have preoccupied myself with earthly things when I was going through trials, the pain eventually returned. And like you, it returned months later. Jesus teaches us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind; to seek first his kingdom, and to cast all our cares before him... When I walk closer with God, and keep focused on his presence, comfort, and will for my life; when I truly seek him first, and yearn to do his will, I am at peace, and the sorrow I was experiencing I can no longer see, as God's great glory washes it away. Luke 14: 26-27 NIV "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters -- yes, even his own life -- he cannot be my disciple. 27 And anyone who does not carry his own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple." (Hate his father and mother - This is actually hyperbole, but it means that we must love Jesus even more than our own family! ) Our God is a jealous God when it comes to his children. He loves you so much that you cannot comprehend it in it's entirety. But what a great love he has for us that in Jesus he became flesh, dwelt among us, died a horrendous death on the cross for you, and rose from the grave and is alive forever more. That you will be able to have life everlasting with the one and only true God, who created all that is seen and unseen, who has no beginning and no end, who loves you so that he died for you to save you from eternal separation from him, from the fire pit of hell. What a great God he is! And he wants to have a most intimate daily relationship with you, Shelley. And he wants to wipe away your tears and be your God forever because he loves you so! So cast your eyes on Him, and keep focused on your relationship with him. He knows what is best for you, and loves you more than anyone else ever could. He will not forsake you. He will bless your life if you trust him to. Bless your heart, Shelley. We will continue to pray for you, and will believe that God will wipe away your tears. |
