prayer for depression - anonymous - 02-28-2014 04:19 PM

I am a born again Christian but have been suffering in a deep depression and have been calling out to God for a new life in Him. But I remain in a constant struggle and cannot easily speak to anyone without tears or insecurities, nor can I seem to get away from my problems and struggles and pain enough to remember God’s love for me. Please pray that I can break free and God will provide me with a new beginning out of this pit of depression. Thanks.

Father of our hope & freedom, Your power is infinite, Your judgments & Your will are perfect & we trust in them. We praise & worship You above all things for You are our Wonderful Counsellor, our Everlasting Father, our Stronghold in the day of trouble & our Resting Place. You are all-knowing & all-powerful Elohim of the universe. You are Immanuel God with us. Thanks that you are with us & that You comfort us in our times of trial. Abba father please help us to continue to rest in You today. Help us to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction & faithful in prayer. Please help us to walk in the Spirit so that we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Help us to trust Your Ways & love Your Laws enough to always obey them. Help us to have such faith in Your goodness that obeying Your commands & direction is never a question for us. Enable us to live in obedience. Make us walk in the path of your commandments for we delight in them.

Dear Friend, I believe that every believer goes through this at one time or another. The Bible bears this out. Look at Job. Look at Jonah. Look at Peter and so many others that were in such deep depression and yet, at the end of the day, God brought them light in the midst of their darkness. This is what keeps me going also, knowing that even though I don't understand why the terrible things that have happened happened, God is working it all out for my good. He is working it out for you as well, although you cannot see it. He is carrying you today. Read the Psalms. This really helps you to know that you are not alone in what you are experiencing. Tears last for a night but joy comes in the morning. Attend a Spirit-filled fellowship where you are valued for yourself and not just money. God is with you and will guide you and He knows and cares what you are going through. Pray, fast, and read His Word. He will speak to you.
