Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Father, in your mercy bring peace to this young woman. Help her to understand that you will respect her desire to be alone if that is what she chooses. But also help her to accept while you will respect her choice, if it is not in your will for her to be with this man that she loves, her choice of being alone will not change your will. Rather than concentrating so much on things that she cannot control, help her to focus on the things that she can change. For example, let her learn to drive that she might be more independent. Let her become the best animator that she can be that she will be able to support herself. Let her fill her life with things that matter to her as if she is going to walk alone, if this man does not return to her, she can take solace in the building of a life that has some meaning to it and is livable. God will not pour anyone on her...being solitary is her choice to make. If this man does not return to her, he will not be alone...and eventually will take another into his life. Help her to prepare herself if that is the case. Father, if it is simply a matter of waiting then show her clearly that this is the case. If it is not to be...then show her that also that she may build her life around singleness that will give her purpose. In Jesus name...Amen!

Mel, there is nothing wrong to pray for love, or the love that you desire, however we are told to pray God's Will.
Exactly, The Our Father, YOUR WILL BE DONE, YOUR KINGDOM COME.
You are yet young & it's hard to be flexible in matters of the heart at times at this age, but as others are saying, try to concentrate on what is in front of you, your own life, that you be pleasing to God & to a spouse, whomever that may be. God Is Our Spouse, that is the most important relationship we have. As a Christian this always comes first therefore life will always be with challenges.
Give praise, Mel, perhaps do a journal where you keep writing what you are greatful for. Don't let disappointments in life hinder your walk with God. Let those that are near you & with you now love you & continue your maturing in Christ. If the young man comes back around, & it's HIS WILL, wonderful, if not, you are still growing.
This life is lived for GOD not man. When you wrap your head around that concept the pieces will fall together. We are praying for you & with you, HIS WILL, as The Our Father, states. Bless

Mel-S Wrote:Please pray for the desires I've prayed for a long long time... I do not believe in the word impossible because there is no such things as such... Mel,

If you believe your desires are of the Lord then you need to trust in them. They will come true without any effort. Any couple that has gotten together got that way because the Lord was in it. You sighted Adam and Eve, and I agree with you--they only had one another. However, if the Lord is not in it, confusion will be all around. Things will be "forced" if you will, and it'll be like nothing is going right or "clicking" so to speak. I felt this way when I went through this--I tried and tried and tried to no avail. However, I found that the Lord wants to bring me the one. If you believe strongly that this will happen then you need to trust that the Lord is not the author of confusion. Things will happen when they are supposed to and you won't have to try.

He wants to bring you that person you are meant for--it's obvious to me that you aren't meant to be alone if the Lord put that desire in your heart. I think your mother is just concerned because she doesn't want you to end up unhappy. That's why she has given up and why she wants you to move on. She loves you and just doesn't want to see you in tears all the time. You're her baby and she is going to be protective of you. It's obvious that you were hurt by your ex when things did not work out and now she is going to be protective--she probably won't think highly of him because he's hurt you before. It's not that she's not trying to understand--she just loves and cares about you and wants what is best for you.

Mel, my advice to you is for you turn to the Lord and ask Him what He wants for you--ask what His will is in the situation. Sometimes we all get caught up in what we want and we miss out on what the Lord wants which is far better. If He wants you to be with your ex then there is nothing to fear in asking for His will. I realize it's a scary thing to do, but I think it needs to be done. I had to do that at one point--I had to take a risk and I know that I am happier for it. I ask that you try--I know it's hard, but I think you will have a lot more direction than if you simply keep asking for what YOU want. I know it helped me in my situation.

Also, ask for an open heart--I think that sometimes we get too caught up in the situation and we cannot see what we need to. We become biased for what we want--but the Lord is trying to show us something different. He'll show you the way if you just ask.

Mel, I know you may not believe it but I do know what you're going through. I prayed for six+ months trying to get my friend to fall in love with me--claiming to give up if it didn't happen. However, I found that was not what the Lord wanted for me. I don't think He wants me to repeat the process over and over again. I've asked that He only send me the person He wants me to be with now that I've had a lesson through this experience. I know that He will answer my prayers and that the next person will be the one. I'm glad however for the person He sent me who first broke my heart. Although it was hard, at least he was a kind considerate person--one who is my friend to this day although we never got together. He is someone I care deeply about and I have found a new love with him that is much better than what I had before. Before, when I was "in love" with him, I was unhappy. True love should not make things worse...they should be better. Now, I am happy that he is my friend, that we stay in contact--in fact, he's one of my BEST friends.

I remember before then crying all the time--at least once a day. As I have stated before, I didn't even want to go on living, because the pain was so great. However, the Lord brought me through that when I finally submitted to His will. I remember thinking that moving on was a bad thing--and I remember asking myself, well then, if this wasn't meant to be then why was he sent into my life? Perhaps he wasn't for you, but he needed to see something in your life. Maybe the Lord worked through you as a witness for Christ--maybe He can still be that. However, a relationship may not be what the Lord wants for you. Remember, the Lord is infinite and what He sees isn't what we do--I think my friend was sent into my life to teach me what love is and what it is not so that when it finally comes my way I will recognize it. Also, I think my friend was not only sent for my benefit. My friend, unfortunately, has no goals in life and he seems to be just spinning his wheels. However, I've seen an influence on him for Christ--he asks questions, he has a deeper interest than maybe he had before, and the Lord is really working in his life.

I'm not saying necessarily that that is what the Lord's will for you. However, I think you need to seek Him out in the situation. Get down and ask what He wants rather than focusing so much on what you want. It's obvious that He must know by now. The Lord understands what you are going through--think of how He loved the world when He gave Christ. One of the things I thought about when I had been rejected was that Christ gets rejected everyday by people He offers His love too, when they decide not to get saved. They would rather live in their own sin and filth and go to hell than spend eternity with Him. How much does that hurt? I thought my personal rejection paled in comparison.

Think of what you have to be thankful for and remember, even if it seems like it, you are NOT ALONE.

Lost Love

"Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
"For with God nothing will be impossible." Luke 1:37

Why are things becoming so impossible with the desires of my heart right now? Even if they are things that sincerely have the Lord in it? I've been praying for over 8 months now... 8 months... I'm still waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting and will continue TO wait until he comes back. Even when he does have someone else, I will wait. These two verses I quoted above... are they becoming taboo to me? Are the things that I have in my heart that I desire impossible to attain, even with God? I still and forever will have these desires in my heart... even if it's 20 or 30 years from now waiting, I still want the man I love... If Eve only had Adam, then why can I not have only this man...I rather be alone than to not have him as my husband because I do not want a man I do not want to love in my life. And I want to love this man... I DO love this man... I need to trust in these desires of mine... Lost Love is right, I do need to trust in these desires... because I always keep falling short on trusting God to have these desires come true... Because ... it seems everyone's prayers are getting answered but mine. One of my friends.... he got back with his girlfriend earlier last month... they broke up for about 6 months... and they got back together... and on her birthday, which was yesterday, he proposed to her... and she said yes. I'm very happy for his engagement. He was praying the exact same prayers I am praying for now. And now he's getting married to the one he loves and he was praying the exact same way... his prayers were answered and here I am still waiting for an answer... was it because he trusted in his desires...? Or is it because I have to still be stuck in the waiting line again...? To me singleness does not have a purpose when it does not include the man you love and want to love. The reason why I'm choosing to be alone until he comes back because I do not want any other man in my life except the man I want to have and love. Why bother having men I do not want? I know the man I want to have and want to marry... but does God know? After 8+ months I think He should... These desires are pure of heart... especially when it comes to the person I want to marry, my (ex)boyfriend, the only one who I have my heart set on and not any other man... Those quotes... those verses... do they mean what they actually mean... or is there a loophole or a catch? If God does not give me the desires of my heart, even when they do have God in them, Psalm 37:4 has to have some type of catch... and Luke 1:37 would be almost taboo because they were impossible... I am getting ripped apart because these desires are in my heart, yet there is nothing been shown to me at all... And I know they are from God... They are pure of heart... What is wrong with me? Am I unworthy to have these desires...? Are my desires un-grant-able? Are they really impossible to obtain even with God in them? So many questions I have right now... yet I have these desires burning in me... Seriously... what is wrong with me? What is it that I cannot or might not have these things that I desire so badly... God... You know I want these desires... my life has no meaning without them... I can be alone and pretty much miserable my entire life if You do not grant these for me... Please God... please... show me that my desires are not null and void... show me that my desires are not stupid or unattainable... and God... please... show me that Your word is true... that you will grant me the desires of my heart (and all are of pureness of heart) and that none of these are impossible... I keep getting shafted from hope... my mom has already lost hope for me and she was my rock... now I have my dad left... and even though he still has hope for me and my desires, it's only a matter of time before he loses hope just like my mom did... THEN I will be officially alone in this battle... geez, I feel like I'm already alone here. Without these desires, my life means nothing. And that is the truth...

Do you know that with the desires of our heart, aligned with HIM, if it be of HIM ? that you would not feel the desparation you are feeling, but at peace? Love on your parents my dear Mel, find a place of your own if you are able, work toward goals of independence & with CHRIST, then things will piece together for you.
You are yet young, your brain is not even fully developed yet (this is a fact, biological fact that not until your mid 20's does your brain fully develop). You are beating yourself up, whereas you could be at peace.
It's fine to pray, to have desires, but it is in development of self, maturing & in CHRIST that our prayers are answered & so much of the time it may not be exactly as we thought or had prayed. You see things via the 19 yrs of your life upon this earth Mel. God is Alpha & Omega.
If this is not working? try something else. Try just loving your family, what you do, love yourself, focus on what is in front of you & then watch it all come together in more amazing ways than you could ever imagine.
It's normal to feel the challenges of life, we all do. But our peace only comes from GOD, HIS LOVE & then out from that point.
Maybe God Is Asking you to let go of that dream, put it on the backburner of your heart & conentrate on other things. REMEMBER:
Alpha & Omega.. fretting over this is actually very minor in relation to ETERNAL (A&O).
Be at peace. That is what God Desires for us. Try flipping it, not what Mel desires for what does GOD desire for Mel. God already knows your heart.. Maybe get a pet, or concentrate on your drawings .. but switch gears, then watch it all unfold to your surprise, in HIS TIMING!

Do you know what our greatest job is on this earth? Do you know what it is that HE Desires Most from us?
to be fisher's of men.
If you concentrate on being a CHRISTIAN, gathering souls that also will know HIM, then this is where you will find your heart, the answers.
Mel, focus on CHRIST, then watch it all fall in line as it should.
I think you are trying to work the puzzle whereas we serve GOD.
Our JOB is to serve, not be served.
There is nothing wrong with love & loving but our job on this earth is SERVICE.

RE: Thanksgiving and other news - Mel-S - 11-29-2010 03:26 PM

I am going to continue to pray for the desires of my heart and I will have to trust in these desires more than ever. A fellow Christian friend has told me that sometimes Satan uses Christian people to get to me and say to me that God isn't going to do this for me or I will have to just give up. I have to keep up with the faith, even though it has slipped so much... My faith and trust comes and goes and come back again. I hope God understands that my desires mean everything to me in this life and if He promised to grant me the desires of my heart, I will believe that as best as I can. Until then... I hope I get to see my (ex)boyfriend around Christmas (which is most likely his next time in town...). And my desires are what keep me going... not to offend anyone, but when it comes to my heart, I can choose whether to follow others' advice or not... and I will continue to fight for what I think is right for my life. Amen.

RE: Thanksgiving and other news - Guest - 11-29-2010 04:29 PM

Mel, it seems to me that you do not appreciate the prayers prayed for you here. People pray for you & ask HIS WILL BE DONE, but it always bothers you. It is bothering you that we are praying HIS WILL BE DONE & HIS HEALING. Don't you see how immature this is?
You can't control how other's pray. You are telling us what God Wants for you then we are to agree with you. You are taking on God's Role. ONLY GOD KNOWS ALL.
I pray that you learn to appreciate others taking time to pray for you & with you. I don't believe one person ever said they did not want you to have the desires of your heart. We are praying HIS WILL.
Try learning to appreciate the prayers given you.

Mel...has this young man come to the Lord yet...or is he still unsaved? I ask in love, because in truth, I think this may be the issue that the Father would like to see addressed before any relationship moves forward with you as a believer.
