Hello, My husband, Jason and I recently had a beautiful baby boy named Austin on 9/26/2013. Unfortunately, shortly after his birth it was discovered that he has a very rare and very serious birth defect call bladder exstrophy. It only affects about 400 babies per year in the USA. Due to it's rarity, only a few doctor's truly know how to treat this and we recently won a battle with our insurance to have Austin operated on by the worlds best in his condition at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore,Maryland. His case is Atypical and he will be hospitalized for anywhere from 3 weeks to 7 weeks or more, depending on many factors. Our little guy needs a lot of prayers. We know it is all in God's plan and we have seen so much beauty in this situation already but it is still very painful. 1) Please pray for his health and safety and a successful operation. 2) Please pray that they do not have to break his pelvic bones. If they do then he will be immobilized for 4 weeks, in a great deal of pain and we will not be able to hold him. 3) Please pray for good pain management so that he does not suffer much 4) Please pray for no post opt complications or infections 5) Please pray for his older brother Nicholas not to be scared in any way 6) Please pray for my husband and I mental health and that we remain confident in God's plan. Thank you! |
