For example :1 step from 00:00 A.M. to 14:00 only with water fasting.In case all is ok,you may try again to fast with water from 00:00 A.M. to 15:00.In case you feel that you can go further,from 00:00 A.M. to 16:00 only with water.
When you can (need Lord help and guidance) fast 24 h only with water,you may try again 1 step this time without water.
Yes is better to be a period when you training your body and mind as well.
In all this period it's better to feel guidance of the Lord.
In time,with Lord help and will you will can fast 3 days without food and without water.But first need e period for training.
A good book by Bill Bright helped me and maybe will help you too.
You may read The Coming Revival: America's Call to Fast, Pray, and "Seek God's Face" by Bill Bright.

You do not always have to fast from food and water. Fasting can be from something that is hard to take out of your life. For some people that may be their vehicle or television. Others it may be sweets or they may do something during this time to show God they are making a sacrifice for the lord. Good luck to you.

i could only fast for 2-3 days w/juice, lite soup & water due to health reasons but be careful getting off u have to start eating a little food & slowly work back up to regular meals so u don't over work the metabolism, liver & gain weight or get sick. will u try this w/me today. ive been ill have to be very careful, drink lots of water, im praying for ypu please pray for me & together mountains can be moved...AMEN??

I think you should first train your body by starting a little at a time. For it depends with all of us, it can also be dangerous to others. I knew a man when I was a child that started to fast for 40 days. By the tenth day he start traveling the subways of NYC preaching. Before the forty days he was taken to Bellevue hospital were he had to be committed for he completely lost his mind. We have to remember that when Jesus was among us even though he was a man he was also God, so be very careful when you fast. My father used to fast one day a week for many years, that was not harmful. With me if I try to fast by the middle of the afternoon I feel very dizzy and get terrible pounding headaches. You know your body and health better than any of us. O know God will not hold it against us of any of us can't fast, for he is a loving God. Seek his guidance in this matter as with everything else in your life.

 why are you asking? In case Lord call someone to fast without food and water it can be days - but only by the power of Lord.
It is better when someone are fasting to be known only by Lord in case it is possible this.
Not all of us have the same calling from Lord.
