My brother Freddie is mentally ill and has been since he was a little boy. My mom and dad took care of him up until their old ages of 85 (dad) & 80 (mom). After my parents both became ill, our dad with prostate cancer and mom who had been disabled for several years after a severe stroke, we had to place them both in a nursing home where my dad died a year ago. My brother Freddie had to be placed in a group home.
My brother Freddie has been bounced around through 3 group homes in the last two years because the homes are either not caring for him properly or in the last instance, the owner was not paying the mortgage on the house he was staying in so we had to quickly place him in a home that is not very desirable. There are a lot of people living in this home and he is not eating healthy. There are not many good homes in our area to choose from. On top of him not having a good home, a which pays half of his rent is trying to kick him off the program because they say the rules have changed and he is no longer qualified. Now we are faced with trying to find him another home that will take half the rent because his SSI payments are not enough to pay what these homes charge. This will in turn make us have to settle for something even worse. Please pray for my brother Freddie to have a good stable home with a family who will love and take care of him as their own and please pray for his financial situation.
