Deployment

Hi. My name is Matt Graham. I am in the United States Army. I am in need of a lot of prayer right now. I have been getting depressed and worried a lot lately because I may be getting deployed overseas soon. And to be blunt, it has been weighting A LOT on my mind, that I may die. I am only 19yrs old. I want to grow up and have a family and lead a good life. I am also a Christian, and I do my best to trust God in this situation, but it is only natural for me to be feeling this way.
So, I could really use some prayer to bring me up. Also, pray that my arrangements within the Army work out how I want them to (I am trying to switch jobs in the Army). And, if I do end up getting deployed, whenever that may be, I would ask that you prayer for my protection, because I've seen and heard of so much death over there, I feel that I will just be going over to die.

Thank you, and God Bless.

Keep your faith brother as the lord will never let you down. He will always protect you with his angels and grant you favors. I pray for this in his name,
Amen.

RE: Deployment

Matt,
I found this http://www.achievebalance.com/napsv/psalm/psalm91.htm many years ago and I have heard others tell of the power of this Word. God Loves You and He is always with His children. First and foremost make sure You are trusting Jesus as your personal savior. All you really have to say is, yes Lord I need and want You as my Savior in this life and in the next. You don't have to know everything just right and say everything just right...just mean it from your heart and He will lead you into all the truth. He'll show you what to do next.

Read and even memorizing this Psalm and take it with you wherever your going. Put it in your helmet, put it in your boot...but mostly Keep it in your heart. It is a Psalm of protection. God Bless You and thank you so much for your courage and service to me, my family, this country and to the whole world. Many will be praying for your protection and safety.

Psalm 91 has a fascinating story behind it from World War I. I apologize that I do not remember my source for this story, as I got it long ago. It seems that during the 'Big War' or the 'War To End All Wars' there was a British company with a very unique Commander. He insisted, while the company was in France and Belgium to start morning quarters with a reading of this Psalm. It seems that he believed that by so doing, no one in the company would get killed. Imagine that. Well, according to the source of this story, his belief was not unfounded. It appears that this company was unique in having no one killed while they were on the front.

Father, I pray this Psalm today over Matt in the Name of Jesus. In Jesus Name protect Matt and remind him daily that You are his true protection in all things.

Matt Graham dwells in the shelter of the Most High and will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Matt Graham says of the Lord, "God is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I shall trust."

Surely God will save Matt Graham from the hunter's trap and the deadly pestilence. God will cover Matt Graham with loving arms, and in God's shadow Matt Graham will find refuge; God's loyalty will be Matt Graham's shield and rampart. Matt Graham will not fear the terror of the night; the arrows that fly by day; the pestilence that stalks the darkness; nor the plague that destroys at noon. A thousand may fall at Matt Graham's right hand, but it won't come near. Matt Graham will only observe and see the punishment of the wicked.

Since making the Most High a life-time dwelling - the same Lord who is Israel's refuge - no harm will befall Matt Graham, no disaster will come near home. For God will command the angels to guard Matt Graham in all ways; they'll lift Matt Graham in their hands, so that Matt Graham's feet won't strike against a stone. Matt Graham will stomp the beast and the serpent; trampling them underfoot.

"Because Matt Graham loves Me," says the Lord, "I will rescue and protect Matt Graham, because Matt Graham knows My name. Matt Graham will call upon me, and I will answer; I will be with Matt Graham in troubled times, I will deliver and honor Matt Graham with long life. I will satisfy my child, Matt Graham and show Matt Graham My salvation."

God Bless and Keep You and make His Beautiful Face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and protect you Matt.

RE: Deployment

Matt, I also found Psalm 91 specifically for your needs. You, as well as all the other soldiers out there, are constantly in our prayers. May Jesus' blood cover you and may God protect you. In Jesus' Holy Name we pray. Amen. Keep the faith...and let it grow!
-----
"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants and grows into a tree where birds can find shelter in its branches." (Matthew 13:31-32 NLT)

"You didn't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I assure you, if you had faith as small as a mustard seed you could say to this mountain, 'move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible." (Matthew 17:20-21)
-----

PSALM 91:1-16

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him you (Matt Graham) will trust. Surely He shall deliver you (Matt) from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.

He shall cover you (Matt) with His feathers, and under His wings you (Matt) shall take refuge; His truth shall be your (Matt's) shield and buckler. You (Matt) shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your (Matt's) side, and ten thousand at your (Matt's) right hand; but it shall not come near you (Matt). Only with your (Matt's) eyes shall you (Matt) look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have (Matt has) made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your (Matt's) habitation, no evil shall befall you (Matt), nor shall any plague come near your (Matt's) dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you (Matt), to keep you (Matt) in all your (Matt's) ways.

They shall bear you (Matt) up in their hands, lest you (Matt) dash your (Matt's) foot against a stone. You (Matt) shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you (Matt) shall trample underfoot. Because he (Matt Graham) has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."

RE: Deployment

Heavenly Father I pray Your perfect protection to be upon Matt as he faces a possible deployment overseas. I pray that Your perfect peace would be upon him and that his trust in Your provision and protection would grow. Help his faith in You to be unshakable and his trust in Your provision and protection to be a strong rock that he stands upon at all times.

I pray this in Jesus precious name

Amen

RE: Deployment

Psalm 91 is such a good Psalm. I've been looking at it for a time. One of the key things that I have learned is that all the promises/declarations/proclamations in verses 3 to the end seem to hinge on vv. 1-2
He who dwells (sits/remains) in the shelter (secret place) of the Most High will abide (remain stable) in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust!"
SO: Find that secret place (His secret place! - how cool is that?!) and dwell there; don't just visit. It seems that the "dwelling" is our job.
WHEN we dwell in His secret place we abide in His shadow. We'll say to Him, My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust!" ("trust" comes from a Hebrew word that basically means to hurry/hasten for refuge. Where we go for refuge indicates what/whom we trust.)
vs. 14 - God says, "Because he has loved Me..." Who has loved Him? He who dwells.
God delivers those who dwell in His secret place; that's, apparently, how we show Him we love Him.
What is "love" as used here; cling or join or be attached. To cling to Him, to join ourselves to Him, to be attached to Him seems to be our act of love to Him.

Father, for Jesus' sake please show Matt Your secret place. Help him to be willing to dwell there with You (is there really a better place to be?). Help him "move in" to Your secret place. Show him the way, Lord, so he can go there and love You. Help Matt know that it is Your faithfulness that is his shield and bulwark. It is Your certainty and trustworthiness that is his shield and bulwark. In Jesus' name, let it be so.
